Fawn Amiska Francis Freeman 1908-2009 Fawn Amiska Francis Freeman was called home to "glory" at the remarkable age of 101. She was born on March 7, 1908 in Belton, Missouri. She was the fifth child of Edward and Ida Ranken Francis. The family moved to Kansas City, Kansas. Mother attended school there and graduated from Sumner High School. She did not go to college, but spent her life learning everything she could. She was a self taught, consummate seamstress who designed fashions for Kansas City's and St. Louis' most prominent. She was also very good at home decorating. Her cooking skills were excellent. Mother had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, and, we loved hearing her sing! Mother had to have her newspaper everyday. She also loved to travel. Mother's family was very important to her. Her parents, her husband Curtis D. Freeman, two brothers Robert and Curtis Francis, five sisters, Mary F. Lewis, Jenny K. Hendricks, Mary Helen Francis, Elsie F. Hudson and Edna Francis, two nephews Robert Jr. and Jessie Francis, one granddaughter Victoria Bell, one grandson Eric Sutherlin and a niece Emogene McAdory, and all of her friends, preceded her in death. Mrs. Freeman leaves to mourn her passing and to carry on her great legacy, two daughters, Carol F. Bell, Hitchcock Texas, Angela F. Sutherlin, St. Louis, Missouri, seven grandchildren, five great nieces, one great nephew, ten great grandchildren, three great-great nieces and one great-great nephew and seven great-great grand children, and a host of relatives and friends of her children and grandchildren. God has added a beautiful person to his angelic choir. En Memorio of Horacio Rodriguez 1983-2009 L. C. Washington 1945-2009 Mr. L. C. Washington finished his earthly journey on Thursday, December 10, 2009. He was born on July 4, 1945 to Mr. Booker T. Washington and Nina Marie Washington. L.C. will be joining in eternal rest, his mother and father, Booker T. Washington and Charles Washington. He leaves to cherish his memories his siblings Marie Washington, Opal Rusk, Charles Washington (Linda), Melvin Washington (Jeanette) and Johnny Washington, daughter Chaquitha Washington and son Adrian Washington, a special friend Ruby Washington and a host of nieces, and nephews. Mary Roxana Linear 1946-2009 Mary was born on October 22, 1946 to Roosevelt and Mary Linear in Sweeny, Texas; she died on Friday, December 11, 2009 at Mainland Center Hospital. Mary will be remembered for her love for taking care of the sick for many years. Mary leaves to cherish her memory, brother John D and wife Sharon Lemon of San Francisco California; brother Roosevelt and wife Eva Mae Linear of Texas City, Texas; brother Robert Lee and wife Aeok Linear, of Austin, Texas; brother James Thomas and wife Tenna Linear of Angelton, Texas; one sister Ethel Mae and Michael Swindall of San Jose, California; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and many devoted friends and neighbors. Jacqueline Maxey "Jackie" 1947-2009 Jackie Maxey fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, December 11, 2009 at her residence in Texas City. Jackie was born in Galveston, TX to Sanders and Rose Washington Davis. Jackie attended Galveston Schools and graduated with the "Class of 1965". Jackie loved gospel music and participated in various musical events and mastered her gift as musician for many churches in the Galveston- Houston area. Murphy Smith, Sr 1947-2009 Murphy Smith, Sr. 62, of Houston passed away Saturday, December 5, 2009 at his residence in Houston, Texas. Murphy was born March 5, 1947 in Manhattan, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers. Murphy is survived by his wife of 41 years Judy Ann Smith; son Murphy Smith, Jr. (Rozzie B); three grandchildren Murphy C. Smith III, Murphy J. Smith, and Murquell R. Smith. Caroline Houston Crayton 1921-2009 Caroline Houston Crayton of Texas City, Texas, passed away at the age of 88 on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Mainland Hospital after a long battle against diabetes and kidney failure. Her long and blessed journey began on February 29, 1921, in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana, where she was reared as a farm girl and the youngest of three daughters belonging to the late Walter and Nazareth Houston. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her lord and savior, and was baptized at Bright Morning Star Baptist Church by Reverend Ed Beckton. She remained in Louisiana until 1948, when she moved to Texas City, Texas with her late husband, Arnell Crayton Sr. Caroline was an active member in church, serving as a longtime member at Greater Macedonia Baptist church; she changed membership to Greater St. Paul Baptist Church, serving faithfully under the leadership of Minister Ford, until health complications prevented her from doing so, where she was called "Mother Crayton". Caroline is survived by her sister, Jessie Mae Gisstan, of Powhatan, LA, by six children: Jeremiah Brooks of Detroit, MI, Arnell Crayton Jr. of Houston, TX, Walter (Ray Baby) Crayton, Anna Dickerson, Joe Crayton, and Darriel Crayton all of Texas City, TX. She is also survived by a large extended family including 32 grand children, a host of great and great-great grand children, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. Caroline was preceded in death by her late husband Arnell Sr., her eldest sister Erma Brown of Ft. Worth, TX, and four of her children from her first marriage to Beatrice Brooks: Douglas Brooks, Elizabeth Shirley (Faye), Irma Jean Brooks (Jeanie), and Irma Lee Brooks, all of Detroit, MI. Caroline was a very loving, giving, and forgiving individual that devoted her time to her children and grandchildren, and she also welcomed anyone in and loved them the same. The family extends thanks to all who knew, loved and supported our beloved "Ma Dear". Please support diabetes and kidney research. Clifford Ennis Pleasant Sr. 1962-2009 Texas City-Clifford Ennis "Baby Dag" Pleasant, Sr. was born November 19, 1962, in Galveston, Texas to Ellen Douglas Norris and Edward Pleasant, Jr. Clifford was well known as "Baby Dag", "Papa Dag", "E. Doug" and "Big Daddy". Clifford answered the call of his heavenly father on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Ben Taub Hospital. Clifford was baptized at an early age under Pastor Rev. Moses Boyd. He later moved his membership to Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church, Hitchcock, Texas under the leadership of Pastor William Randall, Jr. where he was a member of the Mighty Men Choir until the Lord called him home. "Baby Dag" attended public school in Texas City until 1969, then he moved to Dickinson ISD and became apart of the Class of 1981. Clifford excelled in sports. He later moved to Texas City where he began working for various Chemical Plants as a boilermaker. "Papa Dag" was well known for his active role with the La Marque Booster club where he started the tailgating kickoff. "E. Doug" was a passionate supporter of high school, college and professional sports (LM Cougars, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Rockets, Houston Astros and Texas Longhorns) just to name a few. Clifford loved the Lord, he loved to sing and dance to all types of music. "Papa Dag" loved to live life to the fullest. "Big Daddy" loved children and never met a stranger. He called his self "Mr. International"! Clifford departed this life being well known. Clifford "Big Daddy" will forever linger in minds and hearts of his loving and devoted companion Gwendolyn M. Burial will follow at Mainland Cemetery, Hitchcock, TX. Pearl Harris-Spiller 1913-2009 Pearl Harris-Spiller was born in Galveston, Texas on October 19, 1913, to Margaret Stephanie and Amos Harris. She attended Catholic school in Galveston and she played the organ and piano at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Hitchcock. She met Oren Spiller Sr. in Bay City, Texas and they married on August 25, 1930. To this union ten children were born. Pearl departed this life Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 8:40 pm at her residence of 58 years in Hitchcock, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oren Spiller Sr; son, Oren Spiller Jr.; daughter, Margaret Spiller-Cooper; grandsons, Oren Spiller III, and Maury Spiller; and great-grandson, Jamaal Valentine. Pearl is survived by her children, Rudolph A. Spiller (Augustine), Joe L. Spiller Sr. (Lottie), Clara Grubbs, Robert E. Spiller, Audrey L. Spiller, Vaughn P. Spiller, Donald R. Spiller Sr., Mable M. Sedonia Marie Chambers 1923-2009 Sedonia Marie Chambers, was born on November 8, 1923 in Beaumont, Texas to Wilson and Edna Coleman. The Lord called her home on November 5, 2009. Sedonia attended Herbert Elementary, Junior High, and graduated from Herbert High School in Beaumont, TX. Sedonia worked as a housekeeper in the Galveston County area, a cook in Dietary at UTMB, and at Tri City Cafe in Texas City, TX, where she retired after many years of service. Sedonia is preceded in death by her father and mother; husband Aaron Chambers, Sr.; brothers Burton Chambers, Chester Chambers, James Coleman, Clarence Coleman, Roy Thomas, Wilson Coleman, Kennard Coleman and Lionel Coleman; sisters Eva Coleman, Margie Coleman and Melva Henderson. Vernal Adolph (Vern) Neco, Jr 1956-2009 Vernal Adolph (Vern) Neco, Jr., 53 loving father and brother went to be with the Lord on October 29, 2009 in Houston, Texas, where he joined his mother, father, and all his relatives that have past. Vern was born June 14, 1956, in New Orleans, La. to Vernal Adolph Neco, Sr., and Cecilia Greenhouse Neco. Vernal attended school at La Marque High School. Vern joined the United States Army in1974. He served as an equipment operator for his country at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and he did it with honor. Vern loved his retirement from the army it gave him time to do what he liked best spend time with his children and family, listen to some good music and watch television. Dorothy Delores Wiley "Mama Dorothy" 1929-2009 On October 26, 2009, Dorothy Delores Wiley "Mama Dorothy" received her reward for eternal life. Born August 25, 1929 to the union of Freddie and Hester Frank. Dorothy was a graduate of Central High School and worked in the restaurant business for 52 years. A member of Jerusalem Baptist Church for many years. "Mama Dorothy" was known for speaking her mind, lived her life to the fullest leaving loved ones with many memories to cherish. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Freddie and Hester Frank. She is survived by her sons Freddie Williams (Lashonia), Edmond Frank (Karen), Tyrone Williams (Carolyn), Ronnie (Muriel) Frank, Lloyd Frank and her only daughter Sonja Wiley; grandchildren Shamarrion and Tyrone Williams Jr., Stacy and Donavan Frank, and her "joyus" Marcus and Kristopher Frank; great grandchildren Jaylah, Gary, Keshawn, Unique, Queston, India, Josiah, Elisiah and Nora; and long time dedicated friend Mrs. Vina "Vonnie" Miller. Roberto Gonzalez 1986-2009 Roberto Gonzalez, age 23, passed away Friday, October 23, 2009. He was born July 22, 1986 in Galveston, TX, the son of Guadalupe and Rita Lopez Gonzalez. Roberto was respected by others for his love for family and colorful spirit. He worked as an electrician for years, working for Contech-Pasadena and Hot Controls-Dallas. He attended Galveston County Public Schools and Job Corps in San Marcos. Roberto felt that nothing was more important than spending quality time with his family and playing with his nephews. He was often called "lil dough boy", "carnalito" and "lil man" by all who loved and knew him. He loved to watch movies and football. The New England Patriots was his favorite team so "boo!! Dallas Cowboys!" Roberto was preceded in death by his beloved brother Adam Gonzalez; and grandpa's Gustavo Gonzalez and Ricardo Lopez. Roberto is survived by his mother Rita; father, Guadalupe; sisters, Veronica and Catalina; brother, Guadalupe Jr.; Grandma's Maria and Carmen a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Edison Harris, Sr. 1917-2009 On June 7, 1917, Edison Harris, Sr. was born to the late Willie and Hanna Winn-Harris. Bro. Edison Harris accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at The Temple (Mt. Zion C.O.C.H. USA). He then moved to Texas City, TX where he joined Barbours Chapel under the leadership of Rev. James Brown where he served as a faithful member until his health failed. Edison was united in holy matrimony to the late Mary Harris and to this union one child was born who preceded him in death. On March 17, 1942 he was united in holy matrimony to the late Rosa Lee Bouie-Harris and to this union six children were born, two whom preceded him in death. In 1996 he was united in holy matrimony to Opal Doyle and to this union one child was born who preceded him in death. Edison was preceded in death by four children: Minnie Pearl Harris, Edison Harris, Jr., Jimmy Ray Harris, Marilyn Renee Doyle; three sisters: Naomi Foy, Willie Mae Miles, Florence Harris; one brother: Herman Harris; two grandchildren: Samantha and Freddie Straughter, and two great grandchildren Robert Christopher Swayzer and Kyle Lee. Earlene Faye Randle 1958-2009 Earlene Faye Randle was born on June 3, 1958, in Galveston, Texas, to Lovie Ervin and Earl Jenkins. She was a 1979 Hitchcock High graduate. She was employed as a CNA with Friendship Haven and Cameo Caregivers. She is preceded in death by her mother, Lovie Ervin, sisters Martha Ervin, Katie B. Ervin-Bowie, Jewel Randle and her brother Eugene Ervin, her father-in-law, Floyd Randle, Sr., brothers-in-law, Johnny and Michael Randle. Roy Swan "Count" 1944-2009 Roy Swan, who passed this life at Mainland Medical Hospital on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 in Texas City, Texas. He was the fifthteenth child of twenty children. Roy was born April 12, 1944 in Texas City, Texas to the late to Oliver Swan and Elnora Adams Swan. Roy moved to Hitchcock, Texas in 1994. Count had a special way of serving the neighborhood at 6717 Renaud. Mr. Swan's education began in elementary schools in Texas City, Texas and he attended Booker T. Washington High School. Roy was employed through the Local #116 at Monsanto, Carbide, and Amoco. Count enjoyed traveling playing the guitar and he played with many different bands. He was known by his time with the Gospel group the Voices of the Mainland for many years. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Rose Archia of Texas City, TX and Octavia Carter of El Campo; four brothers Freddie Swan of Sealy, TX, Morris Swan of Franklin, LA, Herbert (Ima) Swan of San Fernando, and Thomas (Josephine) Swan of Hitchcock, TX. Delmus Jerome Wiggins "Romeo" 1981-2009 The sunset for Delmus Jerome Wiggins (Romeo) on September 10, 2009. Romeo was born to the late Ms. Barbara A. Wiggins and Jerome D. Thomas on February10, 1981. Romeo attended elementary in Houston and high school in La Marque. He later went on to attend the Supreme Barber College to pursue his gifted talent of cutting hair. Romeo enjoyed showing off his talent of cutting hair and everyone admired the magic he was able to do with his clippers. Romeo also had a great love for rap music. Romeo was preceded in death by his mother and father, grandparents, and uncles. Charles Andrew Thorn "Charlie Brown" 1934-2009 Charles was born September 5, 1934 in Nacogodoges, Texas to Callie and Tim Thorn, Sr. Charles served in the United States Army and later retired as a truck driver. Charles was preceded in death by father Tim Thorn, Sr.; mother Callie Burrow Thorn; stepmother Rosie Thorn; brothers James "Deac" Thorn, Carl Thorn, Clarence Thorn, and JC Thorn; and sister Vidarie Thorn Strange. Da'Zaryan La'Sherl Fury 2009 Da'Zaryan La'Sherl Fury our sweet lil angel peacefully went into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on Monday July 13, 2009 at Mainland Medical Center. She will be sadly missed. "RyRy" was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, great-great grandparents, her great aunt "Big Ciny" and her great-great uncle Bubba. Litha Bell Session 1937-2009 Litha Bell Session was born on October 18, 1937, in Oakwood, Texas to Girlon and Josephine Hayes. She was a long time resident of Houston and the Texas City area. Litha was preceded in death by her father (Girlon); two sisters Anna Bell & Helen, and one brother Quannie. Litha departed this life on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at home. May God be pleased with her soul. Theresa Ybarra Martinez 1928-2009 Theresa Ybarra Martinez of Texas City, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Cornerstone Hospital in Webster; she was 80 years old. Mother will be greatly missed. She loved her family unconditionally; having been our strength and will continue to live forever within each and everyone one of us. Mom never met a stranger; everyone was always welcome in her home where she loved to cook and watch novelas. She loved to shop. She is preceded in death by her husband Selestino Martinez, and two sons: Julian Gonzales and Rene Gonzales, Sr. Theresa is survived by her children: Sixto and wife Mary Gonzalez, Eloise and husband Toby Valdez, Elvira and Jacinto Fuentes, Jr., Teresa Martinez, Velma and husband Tony Gutierrez, Miguel and wife Vickie Gonzales; grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister Angelita Gutierrez of Robstown, TX, brother Lorenzo Ybarra of Denver, CO, cousin Alicia Lopez of CA and a host of other relatives and friends, especially two close life long friends Susie Garza of Houston and Juanita Gonzales of Texas City. Ronnie Bell 1955-2009 Ronnie Bell slipped into everlasting sleep, removed from this life into the open arms of the Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11:14 am at Mainland Medical Center, Texas City, Texas. Ronnie was born December 30, 1955 in Galveston, Texas to Elmo and Vera Lee Bell. Both have preceded him in home going, along with brothers Elmo Bell, Jr., Charles "Butch" Bell and Billy Ray Bell. In 1974, Ronnie graduated from La Marque High School. Ronnie attended the Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service, Houston, Texas. Ronnie was an active member of Greater Barbour's Chapel Church. He was a member of the brotherhood, sanctuary choir, men of Barbour's, an honorary (working) member of Sweet Monday and a gracious contributor to the entire church family. Left to cherish his most precious memories are a loving, devoted fiancee' Stephanie Correia; daughters Omeisha Capdeville (Immanuel), Ligaya Bell, and Taylor Brooke Bell; sons Ronnie Bell and Joseph D'Von Correia; sisters, Vivian Bell Curry and Beverly Bell Boyer; and brother Lathaniel Bell (Janice); grandchildren Kayla, Immanuel, Jr., Naomi, Kirsten, Xavier and Adrian; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ronnie loved his children and family very much. He enjoyed life and "loved hard". Everyone around him could feel his love. He, above everything "loved the Lord". His nitche at Barbour's was service to mankind; beginning in the choir; where he served faithfully with the Mass Choir and the "MOB" until his health failed. He was very instrumental with Sunday School, Brotherhood and Vacation Bible school. Ronnie loved Stephanie and D'Von, and in that love he became very active with Sweet Monday, delivering Thanksgiving dinners and participating with other Christian and Community events. His love for God, Pastor Brown, Sandra Malone, Geneva Andrus "Me-Ma" and the entire church family was shown and expressed openly and often. Thomas Earl Brown, Sr. "Huck" 1948-2009 Thomas Earl Brown, Sr. "Huck" was born March 18, 1948 in Galveston, Texas at John Sealy Hospital to Robvester and Lorene Brown. Mr. Brown enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 and fought in the Vietnam War. He was a laborer for several years. Thomas Brown departed this life from May 05, 2009. He was preceded in death by his father, Robvester Brown, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and niece. Thomas leaves cherished memories in the hearts of his loving mother Lorene Brown; his children, Lorrie Brown-Wilkerson (Robert), Thomas Brown, Jr., Ashlee Stout, Natalie Chatman (Dexter); sisters, Mattie L. Brown, Shirley M. Tolden (Earl); brothers, Robert E. Brown (Valery), Ernest L. Brown (Cynthia); 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; devoted mothers of his children, Delores Brown, Girtha Stout, Lawanna Chatman; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Laura Lee Mcneil Caldwell 1920-2009 Laura Lee Mcneil Caldwell was the third born child of the late Will and Gertrude Chastang McNeil. She follows her siblings Minnie Clara Scott, Palestine (Tithy) McNeil, Henry (Brother) McNeil, Willie Lee (Honey) Moore, and Fannie Mae (Baby) Miller in eternal rest. Born to sharecroppers on April 10, 1920 in DeQueen, Arkansas, Laura enjoyed life on the farm and was eventually educated in the East Texas public school system. She, along with her family later moved to La Marque, Texas where the McNeil family established a homestead in 1947 on Lake Road which stands to this very day. Our Aunt Laura quickly made La Marque her home. Ever the family person she expressed much love and devotion. She married her love, the late Mr. Leslie Caldwell in the early 1950s. She worked diligently for Galveston County Mainland Memorial Hospital in the housekeeping department and for Highlands Baptist Church's nursery school. Aunt Laura also served her community by committing her life to God as she joined the fellowship of Greater Bell Zion Missionary Baptist Church. As an active member she sojourned in missions until her health kept her from doing so. She was also an active member of the Queen of Sheba Grand Chapter #195 Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a proud den mother to a local Boy Scouts of America troop. Aunt Laura was also known to open her heart and home as she cared for nieces and nephews over the years. Any one who knew her knew that she loved laughing and having a good time traveling, fishing, going out to eat, and attending senior citizen club meetings. She often took Continuing Education courses at the College of the Mainland in sewing and quilting. Honing in on her talent, she supplemented here income by selling handmade quilts, and homemade fruit cakes. Laura Lee McNeil Caldwell is survived by one brother, Earl McNeil of Las Vegas, Nevada, three generations of nieces and nephews and step-children Massey, Bobbie, and Clarence and their families. We all, a surviving host of loving family and friends, will honor and cherish her memory and continue to follow in her footsteps of enduring dedication to family, community, and most of all, God. Mrs. Fannie Loman 1953-2009 Mrs. Fannie Loman was born on October 23, 1953 and departed her earthly home on April 27, 2009. Fannie was preceded in death by her mother, the late Elouise Brady. Lydia Denise Haynes 1953-2009 On July 10, 1953, a daughter was born to George and Gevena Clark who they named Lydia Denise Clark. Lydia was raised in La Marque, Texas. At a young age Lydia gave her life to God and was baptized at the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the late B.W. Mc Washington. She was active in the youth choir for many years. Lydia was a graduate of La Marque High in 1971. She went to the College of the Mainland for basic studies. Lydia then went on to the University of Saint Edwards in Austin for Dietary Management, serving the elderly with loving care and devotion. Lydia became the proud mother of a daughter Rozzie Benise Clark. Later she was united in Holy Matrimony to Billy Ray Haynes. To this union a daughter was born Roshinda Patrice Geneva Haynes. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents George and Geneva Clark and nephew Royce Glenard Fredrick. Georgia was the owner and operator of "The House of Joy" restaurant in Galveston and also retired from the University of Texas Medical Branch. Georgia was preceded in death by her husband Willie C. Myers. Danyelle Manning-Crooms 1975-2009 On August 27, 1975, God blessed Lauranetta and Willie Manning II with a beautiful baby girl whom they named Danyelle Rochelle Manning. She fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday, April 11, 2009. Danyelle grew up in La Marque where she attended school. She was a graduate of La Marque High School Class of 1994. Danyelle also attended College of the Mainland to further her studies. Danyelle worked as a unit secretary at St. Lukes Hospital for 6 years. In 2007 she went on to become a member of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center staff where she worked as a unit coordinator. On April 9, 2007 Danyelle married her one true love, Cedric Charles Crooms and to this union one daughter was born, Bria Crooms. She was preceded in death by her mother Lauranetta Aaron Manning, aunt Linnie Williams and her mother-in-law Pricilla Chriswell. They named their little angel, Gladys Louise Smith. At the sunset of her life, it was shouted joyfully from that same mountain on April 6, 2009, that their little angel was coming home to be with the Lord. Gladys Louise Beard of Galveston, Texas passed away on Monday, April 6th at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City. She was born in Palestine, Texas and resided in Galveston for many, many years. As her health failed, she resided in the home of her daughter, Sandra Beard in Texas City. Sandra devoted herself unselfishly to the love and care of our mother. During World War II, Gladys united in marriage to a young soldier, Charles Alexander Beard in Palestine and they moved to Galveston where they started a family. She was the proud mother of 16 children. As a young woman, she was an outstanding athlete and had a passion for the outdoors and animals. She dedicated 36 years as an employee with the University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital in Galveston. She was a member of the New Canaan Baptist Church in Palestine, Texas. She loved to garden and share her fruits and vegetables with friends and neighbors. Gladys was affectionately known as mother by her children, their friends and all who came to know her. Charles Talmage Dotson Sr. 1940-2009 Charles Talmage Dotson Sr. of Texas City, was born on August 2, 1940 in Brenham, Washington County, Texas to Clinton and Emma Alcorn Dotson. A baptized believer, he accepted Christ at an early age, and later joined New Hope Baptist Church in Galveston where he became an ordained minister in 1986. He went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard T. Dotson, and sister, Neva Penrice. Charles attended Carver Elementary School in Galveston and graduated from Lincoln High School, La Marque- Class of 1958. He later attended Wiley College in Marshall, Texas. He also served his country in the US Navy for four years. He spent his professional career at Marathon Oil Company where he worked for 28 years. Harry Miller was born July 2, 1928 in Galveston, Texas. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad. He served in the Navy from July, 1950 to May 1954. He is preceded in death by his father Harry Miller Sr. and his mother Mary Ellen Miller. He is survived by his wife Antoinette Miller; his children son Michael & wife Darlene Miller of Pearland, Texas; daughter Sandra Fraley & husband Phillip of La Marque, Texas. Mrs. Bobbie Jean Thompson 1940-2009 Ms. Bobbie Jean Thompson (Madea) was born on April 13, 1940 in Wharton County to the late Willie Bluntson (Big Daddy) and Irene Bluntson (Big Momma). On Tuesday March 17, 2009 the angels from heaven came to take her to her eternal home after a courageous fight with cancer. Bobbie was preceded in death by her loving husband Isaac Thompson, who departed this earth four years ago on February 1, 2005. Father Willie Bluntson, Mother Irene Bluntson, Brother's Jimmy Bluntson, SL Bluntson, and sister Eloise Stephens. She is survived by sister's Irene Tolliver and Ruth Sewell. Brother's Willie Bluntson Jr., Arvis V. Bluntson, and JC Bluntson. Mrs. Florine Love Morgan 1915-2009 Mrs. Florine Morgan "Other Mama" was born April 5, 1915 in Navasota, Texas and passed into her eternal rest on March 7, 2009 at St. Johns Hospital in Webster, Texas. Mrs. Morgan received her heavenly reward on March 7, 2009. Florine was born April 5, 1915 to Joseph and Cornelius Debose in Navasota, Texas. While living in Navasota she met and married Lewis Morgan in February, 1935. They celebrated 69 years of marriage together. To this union four children were born. Florine and her family moved to Galveston, Texas in 1942. In 1951 they moved to La Marque, Texas where she united with the Rising Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor D.N. Benford, Sr. She served on the Nurses' Board and served as secretary of Circle #4 until her health failed. Mrs. Morgan is preceded in death by her husband; daughter Mary Jackson; grandson Ronald Morgan; parents and six siblings. Victoria Lynn Bell 1965-2009 Victoria Lynn Bell was born to Carol and Clarence Bell on May 6, 1965 at the University of Kansas. She was youngest of 7 children. While growing up Victoria and her siblings had a German shepherd that they would dress up as a baby and make take naps, the dog always would meet them when they would get home from school and would follow them everywhere. Victoria attended Horace Mann Elementary School and Central High School in Kansas City, MO. Then in senior year, her dad was transferred to Texas City, TX to Amoco Refinery. Victoria graduated from Texas City High School in 1983, she went on to attend college at Mainland and also entered the work world. She also attended Galveston College and completed a Culinary Art Certificate. Victoria worked as a cashier for Wal-Mart where she worked for nine years and there she met her best friend Shirley who visited Victoria often. Victoria enjoyed her job and meeting the public very much. Victoria never married nor has any children, she enjoys talking with others, playing games, listening to music, and watching movies with her mother. She is preceded in death by her father Clarence Bell; uncles Donald Bell and Rufus Bell; and cousins Eric Sutherlin and Dwight Dixon. Bertha Mae Watson 1947-2009 Sister Bertha Mae Watson was born on July 29, 1947 to Lizzie Graves and M.C. Williams in Rosebud, Texas. She died on Friday, February 13, 2009 at her residence. Sister Watson was a dedicated servant of Jehovah God. She became one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 15, 1978 and was a devoted member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses until she was unable to walk due to her illness. She will be remembered for her undying faith in Jehovah God and her loving smile. Rose Mary Davenport Brown 1939-2009 Rose Mary Davenport Brown was called to her heavenly home on January 14, 2009 from Clear Lake Regional Hospital in Webster, Texas. Born August 17, 1939, Rose Mary was the third child of Fredrick Davenport and Fesia Amos. She attended public school in Galveston and completed her education in Houston where she received a certificate as a Practical Nurse. She accepted Christ at an early age and fellowshipped with numerous churches in the Houston and Galveston area. She loved traveling, cooking, gardening and entertaining. Although she had no children of her own; her home was always filled with nieces, nephews, cousins and children of her close friends to whom she served as a confidant and mother figure. In early 90's she moved to Miami, Florida with her husband Michael where she lived until his death, then she returned to her home here in Texas. She was preceded in death by her father Fredrick, mother Fesia, sister Sylvia, brothers Sam and Raymond. She is survived by sisters, Barbara Gabriel and Doris Siverand of Houston, Shirley Moore (Johnnie) of La Marque and Mae Staples (Charlie) of San Diego, California; brothers Paul Davenport of Houston and Charles Davenport (Joyce) of Texas City; numerous aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
