Carl "Dean" Sullivan, Jr.

–

League City, Texas

Carl “Dean” Sullivan, Jr. was called to his heavenly home on August 26, 2026, at the age of 62, in Webster, Texas, surrounded by his family.

Dean was born on October 14, 1963, to “Carl” Dean Sullivan, Sr. and Ellen Lucille “Lucy” Sullivan in Texas City, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of Galveston County, except for his college years at Sam Houston State University. He married his wife, Juli, in 1988, and they added two daughters, Tara and Taylor, to complete their family in the following years. Together, they ultimately settled in League City, Texas, where Dean resided until his death.

From a young age, Dean’s character was impossible to miss. He was never one to back down from a fight and was rarely convinced he was wrong. Yet beneath his strong-willed nature was a genuine warmth that drew people to him wherever he went.

Dean was also a fierce defender of others’ rights. He had strong convictions about right and wrong, respect for others, and personal integrity - values instilled by his parents and his faith in Jesus Christ. He never hesitated to voice those convictions, even when they went against popular opinion.

In years past, Dean could usually be found in the kitchen cooking up his next culinary adventure. His intuition and creativity made every dish special, and he loved sharing his creations with family and friends. When he wasn’t doing the cooking, he enjoyed exploring all kinds of dining establishments, from holes-in-the-wall to five-star restaurants.

Dean was a devoted husband and father, and above all, his greatest joy was his family. Nothing brought him more pride than his daughters and he fully embraced being a “girl dad”. He also wholeheartedly took on the roles of doting dog dad and “Poppy,” never missing a chance to spoil his fur babies and grand dogs.

Family vacations and celebrations were a very special part of Dean’s life. He believed that creating those memories were some of the best gifts he could give his children. These cherished times together will live in our hearts forever.

The love Dean had for his family and friends is part of his legacy. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him back.

Dean is lovingly remembered by his wife, Juli (Bessire) Sullivan; daughters, Tara (Sullivan) Patterson and her husband, Devon, and Taylor Sullivan; mother, Lucy (Le Boeuf) Sullivan; brother, Dodd Sullivan; sisters, Dayna (Sullivan) Atkins and her husband, Gordon, and Denise (Sullivan) Ball and her husband, Matt; aunt, Margie (Sullivan) Goff; many nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members; and dear friends. He was welcomed into heaven by his father, Carl Sullivan, along with the many other loved ones who passed before him.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 26, from 4–7 p.m. at the Eversole residence, located at: 10402 Jay Road, Hitchcock, Texas. The celebration will be outdoors, so please dress comfortably.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Yorkie Rescue Houston or a local animal shelter.
