Gerald Delaney Benefield

Our beloved father Gerald Delaney Benefield, passed away

on August 8, 2023 at the age of 74.

Born in Galveston, Texas on December 23, 1948, Gerald
was the son of Margaret and William D. Benefield, Sr. He
graduated from Lincoln High School and received an
Associate's Degree in Business Management from Lamar
University. He was an entrepreneur. He had a successful
photography studio and business for over twenty years.
He was a member of Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church.
He was passionate about family history and genealogy. He
created and published 'The Book of Life' outlining the
Benefield history. The book can be found in the Clayton

library in Houston, Texas.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his children
Monica Benefield-Hogan (Derrick), Geraley Turner (Sid),
Tiffany Benefield and Tanesha Cannon; grandchildren,
James, Lloyd Jr., Marcody, Cameron, Joshua, Chauncey
and Xavier; great-grand child, Lloyd III. His siblings,
William Jr. (Cheryl), Harambee (Bibi), Jackie (Doris),
Ronald (Irish), Dolores (Dotson), Bertha, Tamiko (Ryan)
and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and
friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William
and Margaret Benefield; siblings, Douglas Darrell, Albert
James, Michael Raphael, Kenneth Paul Sr., Darrell, Larry

Wayne, Odelia, Lorena and Gregory.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 19 th
at 11:00 a.m. at Bay Area Funeral Directors, 5410 FM 1765,

Texas City, TX 77591.
