Jacob James Luke "Jake" Obituary (1972 - 2025)

Jacob James Luke “Jake” 53, of Galveston, Texas passed away on August 20, 2025. He was born on February 21, 1972, in Grand Rapids, Michigan and lived a life full of hard work, love and dedication to his family, friends and community. Jake began his career as a commercial fisherman, working between the waters of Texas and Florida chasing elusive brown shrimp before turning his talents to carpentry and home building as a small business owner of Integrity Contracting Services in Galveston County. Known for his strong work ethic and craftsmanship, he built not only homes but lasting relationships with those around him. Jake is survived by his wife Elizabeth Wilson, his son Jacob James Luke II and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Sullivan. Son Josh Luke. Daughter Victoria Luke. His grandchildren Adelynn Luke and Jacob James Luke III. He also leaves behind his brother Tony Lurvey, niece Kahala Lurvey, cousins Nyle Boykin, Danielle Taylor, Lucinda Luke, Donald Robb Jr, his adopted mother Joyce Barker, along with his beloved dog Goku. He was preceded in death by his mother Glenda Luke, father Sonny Lurvey, brother Matt Lurvey, aunt Polly Taylor and cousin Johnny Taylor. The eldest of his brothers Jake lived with a deep responsibility and compassion for them. He was involved with Narcotics Anonymous where he not only found strength but helped countless others on their journey to sobriety. His family and friends will always remember him for his generosity, wisdom, and support. Jake found peace and purpose in his faith at Blue Star Church where he participated in Lakota ceremonies. He loved riding his Ducati, strumming his guitars, and the simple joys of family and friendship and the many nice things he acquired throughout his life. Jakes legacy is one of resilience, love, and service. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the lives he touched.
