Jeraldine McGowan

Mrs. Jeraldine McGowan passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026 at the age of 95. She was the wife of Mr. Curtis B. McGowan and they shared 58 years of marriage.

Born in Orange, Texas, she was the daughter of Jerry and Aramae Bradley. She attended the public schools of Orange. She furthered her education by attending Prairie View and obtained her undergraduate degree and later a Master’s degree in Elementary education.

She was a dedicated teacher, employed numerous years in both the LaMarque and Texas City school districts. She was a Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, NAACP and McKinney Memorial Methodist church.

She enjoyed entertaining family and friends and loving her one and only daughter, Daphne, whom she is survived by. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Rosemary McGowan and a host of extended family and friends. She is predeceased by her parents a sister, Ms. Anna Bradley.

Mrs. McGowan was a pillar of her community and dutifully educated hundreds of students over the course of her life. She will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held at McKinney Memorial Methodist Church on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 11:00 am. A repast will be held immediately following the service.
