Matlene Finch Obituary (1932 - 2020)

Matlene Finch, 87, affectionately known as "Granny" or "Ms. Matlene" entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at HCA Houston Healthcare at the Pearland Medical Plaza. A visitation will begin on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Jerusalem Baptist Church with a viewing starting at 12:00 p.m. followed by funeral services for immediate family at 1:00 p.m. Ms. Matlene will be laid to rest at Galveston Memorial Park, located at 7301 Memorial Street in Hitchcock, TX 77563. Ms. Matlene was born November 12, 1932 in Waller, Texas to the union of Jessie and Addie Barnes. Ms. Matlene was known for her soul food cooking and caring for those around her. Ms. Matlene was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Calvin and Melvin Finch and siblings, Robert Barnes and Jessie Lee Barnes. Ms. Matlene is survived by siblings, Emma Washington, Herman Barnes (wife, Louise), Jessie Mae Johnson (husband, Tony) and Cecil Barnes. She also leaves with loving memories her beloved children, Sherry Grant (husband, Milton), Jeanette Mack (husband, Anthony), Joyce Landry (husband, Paul) and James H. Finch; 16 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives, nieces and nephews.
