It's with genuinely heavy hearts that we share the news of Melvin Ray Hall's passing – though most of us lovingly knew him as Tudy. He gently left us on May 29, 2026, at the wonderful age of 82.
He was born on November 24, 1943 here in Galveston, TX. Tudy was the beloved son of Jessie Guy and Celestine Keys, who have already journeyed on. He is preceded in death by his sister Warretta Willis and son Larry King. Tudy was truly a special soul, and we'll always carry memories of his bright, unforgettable smile, his calm and steady strength, and the incredible way he navigated life's challenges with resilience. He was, without a doubt, a devoted and loving father through and through.
Melvin attended Central High School where he excelled in track. For many years, he dedicated his hard work and skill as a construction worker at Todd Shipyard, literally building a life for himself and his loved ones. But beyond his work, Tudy was legendary for his fantastic sense of humor – he always knew how to bring a smile to your face! His deep faith and love for Jesus Christ were central to who he was, and his unwavering commitment to providing for his family was truly inspiring. Melvin was a devoted member of Church of Christ. He taught us so many precious lessons, especially the importance of trusting in God and putting in the effort to achieve your dreams. We're all incredibly thankful for the immense joy and wisdom he brought into our lives.
Tudy leaves behind a beautiful legacy in his children: Chanel Brewer, Vickie McChristian (Joe), Gary King, Chad Jones (Monique), Dana Robertson (Charles), and Christina Hall. He also leaves his dear sister, LaGloria Bullock, and his brothers, James and Anthony Hall, to cherish his memory.
Our family wants to extend the biggest thank you to Charles Hunter, all our wonderful friends and family, and the dedicated medical staff who provided such compassionate and constant care during his final days. Your support meant the world.
John 14:3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
We warmly invite you to join us as we come together to celebrate Tudy's remarkable life and bid him farewell. We'll be holding a 'going home' celebration on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Bay Area Funeral Directors, located at 5410 FM 1765, Texas City, TX 77591. Please feel free to come for visitation starting at 10:00 AM, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM.
