Born in Houston, Texas on May 3, 1951, Dr. Rev. Olga Silva Brooks was a beacon of strength and resilience. Her steadfast dedication to her family, faith, and education defined her life's purpose. Dr. Rev. Olga Silva Brooks, a beloved mother, esteemed spiritual leader, devoted educator, and compassionate soul, peacefully passed away on May 5, 2023, at 72. Her departure has left a profound void in the lives of her loving family and the countless individuals whose lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey. Dr. Brooks' formative years were shaped by the loving influence of her grandmother, Angelita, as well as the support of her father, Lucas, and her bonus mother, Pauline. Under their care, and guidance they built a solid foundation rooted in family values and compassion. Dr. Brooks' educational pursuits led her to graduate from Booker T. Washington High School, then went on to obtain her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. These experiences, within her family and through her education, played a pivotal role in shaping the remarkable woman she became. Dr. Brooks experienced the joy of marriage twice in her life. At 19, she embarked on a new chapter alongside Larry D. Ferguson, navigating a young marriage together. Later, she experienced long-lasting love and companionship with Dr. Sumpter L. Brooks, II, sharing 43 beautiful years of marriage filled with love and support, and a deep connection that served as an inspiration to all. Dr. Brooks' passion for education was evident throughout her 18-year career in the Houston Independent School District, where she tirelessly served as an educator. She later opened an elementary school, Northwest Mathematics Science & Language Academy, where she retired as the Director. Her impact as an educator was far- reaching, touching the lives of countless students, colleagues, and the broader educational community. Dr. Brooks' commitment to fostering knowledge, growth, and empowering young minds leaves a lasting legacy. Additionally, Dr. Brooks answered a higher calling by becoming a Reverend and a Doctor of Theology and Counseling. Her spiritual journey allowed her to provide comfort, guidance, and wisdom to those seeking solace in their faith. Through her sermons, where she served as Pastor at the Cathedral of Faith Love & Hope, she offered counseling and strong compassion for her community. She touched the hearts of many, offering hope in times of need. Dr. Brooks was also preceded in death by her beloved Grandmother: Angelita; Parents: Ester Castro and Lucas Silva; Siblings: Ester, Francisco, and Pauline V.; and Beloved son: Sumpter L. Brooks, III, who will forever be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those who loved them. As a mother, she lovingly supplied support, guidance, and boundless love to her surviving children: Domonick D. Ferguson (Latoya), Angelita D. Sweat (Don, Jr.), and Dawn J. Brooks. Dr. Brooks also leaves behind her surviving grandchildren: Alysa, Lauren, Domonick Jr., Nicolas, London, Gabriella, Don III, and Dalis. Finally, she leaves her great-grandchildren: Mark Anthony, Ariah, and Mateo. The presence of her offspring brought immense joy and happiness to her life, and they will forever carry her love and teachings in their hearts. Dr. Brooks is also survived by her Bonus Mother: Pauline and Siblings: Johnny (Rachel), Robert, Florentina, Ernesto, Marcus, Adrian, Norma C., and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. Dr. Rev. Olga Silva Brooks leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family members and friends, all of whom were deeply touched by her love, kindness, and support. She WILL BE MISSED!
