Sammie Tribble, Jr.

–

Friendswood, Texas

Sammie who was affectionally known as Tribble to his mom and Siblings, and Big
Sam and Sam to his friends and others. Sam was the son of Sammie Tribble, Sr.
and Lizzie Mae Lovely. He attended all his schooling in the Public Schools in
Monroe, Louisiana. He was a very proud graduate of the Class of 1958 from
Carroll High School in Monroe. After graduation Sam immediately joined the
United States Air Force. He served five years with two of those years being in
Morocco. Sam was a very proud veteran and dedicated his life to working with and
caring for veterans.
When he was discharged from the service he worked at the VA Medical Center in
Omaha, Nebraska caring for veterans and later in years transferred to the VA
Medical Center in Denver, Colorado in the Mental Health Department. He gave of
himself a total of thirty years plus caring for veterans. After retirement from the
Department of Veterans Affairs he sat at home for two months and decided that he
still wanted to do something to help people, and he applied for a position at the

Metro Transportation Department of Denver, Colorado. He wanted to work part-
time driving and picking up the handicap clients. He was hired to drive the Access-
A-Ride part-time and he ended up driving more than full-time hours weekly under

a part-time status. He enjoyed the job so much and met so many wonderful people
that he had forgotten he was part-time, and his supervisor kept reminding him to
switch over to full-time so that he could get the full-time benefits. He ended up
switching over to full-time and worked for eight years with the company. The only
reason he stopped working is because we moved here to Texas.
