On July 28th, 2024 Dr. Shawn Amir Aghajan, age 43, passed away in his sleep. Shawn was one of a kind and a difference maker in his community. He leaves behind the love of his life Sarah, their four young children and hundreds of heartbroken students. Born in Houston, TX, he was the son of Tina Jones and Nasser Aghajan. As a perpetual teacher and learner, he was an alumni of Baytown Christian Academy, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Sociology from Simpson University, his Masters of Educational Leadership from Lamar University, Masters of Theological Ethics from The University of Aberdeen, his Doctorate of Philosophy in Theological Ethics from University of Aberdeen, and was a published author of the book Imperial Pilgrims.
Shawn was a remarkable man. His quick wit and sharp sarcasm could lighten up the darkest of days, bringing joy and laughter to those around him. Shawn was not only a man of humor but also a dedicated mentor, tutor, and high school math teacher. His passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom, as he invested in his students, offering guidance, support, and the occasional tough love needed to help them succeed. He would often say God and theology were his passion and he enjoyed math as a hobby. In his limited spare time Shawn enjoyed supporting the Astros, cooking an amazing meal for friends or family, planning a trip around his favorite restaurants, and listening to good music. Shawn was a great dad, witty, full of jokes, and always ready to cuddle on the couch. He instilled in his girls the values of kindness, integrity, grace, and grit. Shawn’s humor, wisdom, and compassion will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Sarah Aghajan; his four daughters, Layla, Ella, Ana, and Sophia Aghajan; his father, Nasser Aghajan; his Aunt, Kaye Jones; his siblings, Sarah and Sasha Aghajan; and he is preceded in death by his mother, Tina Jones.
